It will, however, provide a solid platform for getting out on the water often and coming back to the dock with impressive results. The Pro Am Skier uses a semi-modified vee hull, flattened out at the transom, to leave behind a trail of twin bumps that are easily crossable by beginners, intermediates and experienced slalom skiers alike. There is a pleasurable softness to them, making both open-water and slalom-course wake crossings easy. Taking the speed up to 34 and 36 mph increases wake hardness and turbulence, especially at 15 and 22 off. If you want to venture further and bring in the line, you will contend with light spray at 35 off, and hard skier pulls force the boat to sway side to side. The flatness encountered at speeds over 24 mph fattens up between 16 and 21 mph. Surprisingly, this flat-bottomed boat throws medium-to-large peaked ramps for boarders. Plus, the wakes are clean and easy to edge through. Riders hoping for surface tricks inside the wakes will be met with a bit of disappointment, though, a very bumpy inside; keep the leading edge of your board up and avoid the face-plant. With care, this Pro Am should provide seasons of good skiing.
The driver behind the wheel will find handling smooth and responsive. Course drivers may prefer a kick pad to firmly plant their feet on during long sessions.
