Seller note:

UNBELIVABLE ! MANY CUSTOM FEATURES !A well-styled cruiser by the standards of her day, the 296 Cruiser was Monterey?s first entry into the highly competitive market for 30-foot stern drive family weekenders. Hull construction is solid fiberglass, and her deep-V bottom provides a stable, comfortable ride in most weather conditions. All deck hardware is stainless steel and through-bolted, while the bow rail enclosing the foredeck is welded rather than screwed for strength. Wiring is loomed neatly, and the three separate engine hatches in the cockpit provide either a single opening for quick checks of fluid levels, or complete access to all sides of the engines for maintenance. The cockpit hatches, by the way, have large gutters and overboard drains to carry rain or washdown water away from the engine compartment. The cockpit has plenty of space for family and friends with a fold-away transom seat, a fore-and-aft settee to port (ice chest underneath),Custom fridge mounted underneath the port side bench and an adjustable helm bench seat large enough for two. An Acrilan Bimini top is standard, along with a full cockpit enclosure and aft cover, with a camper version option. The helm is both comfortable and efficient, with tilt-steering for the sporty wheel and a complete array of highly readable black-faced analog gauges, including tach, speedo, trim, fuel level, volts, oil pressure and engine temperature. Even better, there?s plenty of stowage in the cockpit under the seats, plus a built-in fender rack just outside the transom door on the swim platform. Cabin access is to port, with bifold doors and a clever hatch that swivels out of sight. A CD/AM/FM stereo is just inside the cabin door for weather protection. To port is a dedicated dinette (ample stowage underneath) while the enclosed head is to starboard, complete with upgraded Vaccu Flush toilet, sink, hanging shower head and shower pan. In spite of the sleek lines of the cabin, you?ll find more than 6 feet of headroom in the cabin. The galley is a one-piece modular component with a bullnose edge and the look of Corian or granite countertop. There?s excellent stowage, as well as pressure water, a Custom dual-voltage pull out refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot. Two bench seats in the midcabin provide seating, and between them is a fold-down table that converts the seats into the roomiest berth in the boat. Additional features include a walk-through windshield, a wide swim platform with fender racks, good main cabin headroom, a sport arch, and a molded bow platform.
